What is BMI?
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple measure that uses your height and weight to work out if your weight is healthy. The BMI calculation divides an adult's weight in kilograms by their height in metres squared.
BMI Categories
• Underweight = Less than 18.5
• Normal weight = 18.5 to 24.9
• Overweight = 25 to 29.9
• Obese = 30 or greater
• Normal weight = 18.5 to 24.9
• Overweight = 25 to 29.9
• Obese = 30 or greater
BMI Limitations
BMI is not a direct measure of body fat and doesn't account for age, gender, ethnicity, muscle mass, or bone density. Athletes and elderly people may have BMI results that don't accurately reflect their body composition.
